Michael joined our brewers’ team in 2016. Always a bit fanatical about beer, he got into craft beer while he was travelling in Australia and New Zealand. On his return, he decided to get more involved in the beer crafting world so he started volunteering in breweries. Eventually he became a brewer and worked at a few breweries where he gained some incredible experience which he has since put into practice here.

We asked Michael to answer a few questions about his love of beer:

  •  Favourite Wimbledon beer: Wimbledon Common Pale Ale, but on the occasion that the Wimbledon XXXK Vintage Ale comes out after a dinner party…it pulls a trump card.
  •  Favourite beer you’ve had abroad: Pliny the Elder in California, can’t beat it. 
  •  Favourite brewery which you’ve visited: I use to go to the old Young’s brewery in Wandsworth as a child, I have many great memories from there.
  •  What three things make a good pub (or tap room): Atmosphere, well-kept beer and happy staff.

How would we describe Michael? A great member of the team. Kind, funny, sometimes serious, but importantly very thorough with all aspects of brewing. And he’s a great cook.
